Best Getting his turn at bat

Long-time assistant
 prepares to lead
cats into season

   Rob Best has been coaching football for almost 40 years, but he has never stood on the sidelines as a head coach.
   That will change Friday night as Best leads the Pilot Point Bearcats onto the field in their season opener at Liberty Christian.
   Best, who has been on the Pilot Point coach staff since 2006, was promoted to head coach after Blake Feldt resigned in February. Best became the PPISD's new athletic director and head football coach on March 1.

Back in action

After a year away from football, Buckingham
ready for debut as Bearcats starting quarterback

   This time last year, Aaron Buckingham wasn't thinking about football. Although he had played as a sophomore on the Bearcats' 2009 state championship team, he decided to concentrate on basketball during his junior year.
   All of that has changed. Buckingham has decided to return to football for his senior season. He will be the Bearcats starting quarterback in Friday night's season opener at Liberty Christion.
